The island nation is doubling down on its ambition to become a strategic «Gateway to the EU» for American technology companies, supported by the government and Invest Cyprus.
NVIDIA: Building a National Supercomputer
Strategic cooperation with NVIDIA continues to advance. The collaboration focuses on the creation of a national supercomputer and the development of a robust High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure. This initiative aims to provide Cypriot researchers, startups, and enterprises with unprecedented computational power, fostering innovation in AI, climate modeling, and pharmaceutical research. The project is seen as a cornerstone of the country’s digital transformation roadmap.
Tenstorrent: Regional AI Chip Hub Established
In a significant move, Tenstorrent — a leading AI chip developer founded by legendary chip architect Jim Keller — has already opened a physical office on the island. This branch is not just a representative office; it is designed to function as a regional center for the company’s operations. From Cyprus, Tenstorrent plans to manage sales, support, and potentially R&D activities targeting the European and Middle Eastern markets, leveraging the island’s skilled workforce and favorable business climate.
Amazon: Negotiations for Satellite Internet (Project Kuiper)
