Cyprus Launches First International Startup Accelerator in Partnership with Silicon Valley Leader
Cyprus is taking a major step toward strengthening its position as a regional technology hub with the launch of its first international startup accelerator. The initiative is being developed in collaboration with Silicon Valley-based innovation platform Plug and Play and Cyprus-headquartered Tototheo Global.
The new accelerator will form part of a broader Innovation Centre designed to support early-stage and scaling startups. By connecting local entrepreneurs with global investors, corporate partners, and mentors, the program aims to bridge the gap between Cyprus’ growing tech ecosystem and international markets.
According to project stakeholders, the accelerator will provide startups with access to funding opportunities, industry expertise, and expansion pathways into Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Plug and Play, known for its global accelerator programs and partnerships with major corporations, is expected to bring its extensive network and experience to the initiative.
Tototheo Global, a technology and maritime communications company, plays a key role in facilitating the project locally. The company has emphasized the importance of fostering innovation on the island and positioning Cyprus as a gateway for startups looking to scale internationally.
The establishment of the Innovation Centre marks a significant milestone for Cyprus’ digital transformation strategy. In recent years, the country has seen rapid growth in its tech sector, attracting international companies, talent, and investment. The new accelerator is expected to further accelerate this momentum by nurturing high-potential startups and integrating them into the global innovation ecosystem.
Government officials and industry leaders have welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to create high-skilled jobs, drive economic diversification, and enhance Cyprus’ competitiveness in the global technology landscape.
The accelerator is expected to begin onboarding its first cohort of startups later this year, with a focus on sectors such as fintech, artificial intelligence, maritime technology, and digital infrastructure.
With this launch, Cyprus signals its ambition to move beyond being a regional player and establish itself as a meaningful contributor to the global startup ecosystem.
